TabiQ is a Chrome Extension that intelligently organizes your browser tabs using AI models and privacy-preserving techniques. Your privacy is important to us. This policy outlines what data we use and how it's handled.
1. Information Collected
Tab Information: We access tab titles and URLs to categorize tabs into groups. This data is processed locally or via OpenAI's API when enabled.
Tab Grouping & Activity: We group tabs based on category, but no tab content or user identity is stored or shared.
Storage: Some data such as cached categories and usage statistics is stored locally in Chrome extension storage for performance purposes.
2. API Use
When the OpenAI API is used (if enabled by the developer), tab metadata (titles and domains) may be sent to OpenAI for categorization. No personal identifiers are included. The API key is securely stored and not visible to users.
3. Permissions Justification
activeTab: Required to access the active tab’s title and URL for categorization.
tabs: Needed to list, group, and update browser tabs.
tabGroups: Used to organize tabs into logical groups.
storage: Allows caching of categories and configuration settings locally.
scripting: Required to interact with tab metadata for grouping logic.
host permissions: General host access is not actively used but reserved for future local analysis enhancements.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties. Only anonymized tab metadata is sent to OpenAI when categorization is enabled. No cookies, trackers, or personal information are collected.
5. Your Consent
By using this extension, you consent to the collection and use of information as outlined in this policy.
